For Landlords

FAQ

If your household income is:
   •   Under 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI): You qualify for the enhanced rebate, which covers 100% of eligible upgrades — no out-of-pocket cost.
   •   Between 80–150% of AMI: You still qualify, but rebates cover about 50% of the total cost.

Yes — for most households, it’s 100% free.
If your income is under 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or you receive benefits like SNAP, SSI, or other assistance, everything is fully covered by the State of Michigan.

If you’re between 80% and 150% of AMI, you may qualify for a partial rebate (up to 50%) on eligible upgrades like insulation, heat pumps, and more. We’ll help you figure that out.

Yes. Renters are eligible as long as the household meets income requirements. Landlords must also agree to participate—but they benefit too: their property gets upgraded at little to no cost.

Your home may qualify for:
   •   Heat pumps for heating and cooling
   •   Insulation in attics, walls, and rim joists
   •   Electrical panel and wiring upgrades
   •   Windows, doors, and ventilation improvements
   •   Water heaters and more

We use advanced energy modeling to determine which upgrades deliver the biggest savings for each home.

Yes — but don’t worry, it’s easy. Just choose Great Lakes Weatherization as your contractor, and we’ll handle the rest. From scheduling to installation, we make sure your upgrades are done right, fast, and with zero hassle.
